Training for the Untrainable by Nuts Over The Atlantic

Training for the Untrainable

Sun 16th, Apr 2017

Rowing 3,000 miles, every time we hear that sentence and that figure it just doesn’t seem real. How do you train for the untrainable? How do you mentally prepare yourself for the unthinkable? The truth is you can’t and the sooner we realise that, the sooner we can prepare ourselves in the best possible way we can.

There will be no perfect way to train ourselves at the gym, because no one race is the same. Racers battle different emotions, different setbacks and yet most of them still find a way to succeed. More people have flown into Space, or climbed Mount Everest than rowed the Atlantic, this is another sentence we are constantly reminding ourselves of to provide inspiration that insurmountable is just an idea for the weak and anything can be conquered.

So if perfect has flown straight out of the window, then what are we left with? We are left with gyms on behalf of David Lloyd, nutrition from Neat Nutrition and 7 and a half months left to get ready for the most gruelling task we have all faced. Below is the first proper training plan we are using as a team. The aim is to replace chicken wings with chiseled biceps, beer bellies with washboard abs and pack enough muscle in to our legs to move a 9 meter boat from one continent to another.
